You can export any single slide from your Powtoon as an animated GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) file. GIFs are useful for marketing banners, training snippets, internal communications, and social sharing — and they loop automatically when played.
Before you start
Review the following constraints before creating your GIF:
- Each GIF is generated from one slide only. Make sure all the content you want to include is on that slide before you begin.
- A GIF can be up to 6 seconds long.
- GIFs include animation but no sound. You do not need to add a soundtrack or voiceover to the slide.
- If your GIF includes text, set the font size to at least 80 pt so the text remains legible at smaller output sizes.
- The exported GIF will loop continuously when played.
Creating a GIF from a slide
To export a slide as an animated GIF, follow these steps inside Powtoon Studio:
- In the slide panel on the left, select the slide you want to export as a GIF.
- In the toolbar, click Export.
- Select Download animated GIF from the export options. The GIF export panel opens.
-
By default, the GIF covers the first 6 seconds of the slide. To capture
a different portion, drag the start and end points of the time slider
to your preferred range.
► Use the play button to preview the animation before downloading. - Click the play button to preview the GIF and confirm it looks correct.
-
Select your preferred output size:
- Small — 480 x 270 pixels
- Medium — 720 x 406 pixels
- Large — 960 x 540 pixels
- Click Download GIF. The GIF file downloads to your computer and is saved in your default downloads folder.
What happens next
Once the download is complete, the GIF file appears in your designated downloads folder. The file is ready to share, embed, or upload wherever you need it. The GIF will loop automatically when played.
Notes
- GIF export is available from within Powtoon Studio. If you do not see the Export button in the toolbar, confirm that you have a Powtoon open for editing.
- Only one slide can be exported per GIF. If you need content from multiple slides, consolidate it onto a single slide before exporting.
- Sound is not supported in the GIF format. Any audio on the slide will not be included in the exported file.
