Lip-syncing lets you attach an audio track directly to a character in your Powtoon so the character's mouth moves in time with the audio. This makes your characters feel more lifelike and helps your audience connect with the content.
Eligible character families: Lip-sync is available for all characters created using the Character Builder, plus the Boho, Rhapsody, Cosmo, and Duo character families.

- Choose the method you want to use to add the voiceover.
► You can upload an existing audio file or record directly, depending on the options shown in the panel. - Confirm your selection. The voiceover is attached to the character and lip-sync processing begins automatically.
Note: It may take a few moments to several minutes for the mouth motion to fully render in sync with the audio, depending on the length of the track.

- Select the character on the stage.
- Click the Voice icon. The Audio Control panel opens.
- Use the Audio Control panel to make any of the following adjustments:
- Swap the audio track for a different file.
- Delete the audio track to remove lip-sync from the character.
- Adjust the volume of the audio track.
- Preview the audio track before saving changes.
Identifying a character with an attached audio track
After you add an audio track to a character, Powtoon Studio displays several visual indicators so you can tell at a glance which characters have lip-sync applied:
- The Voice icon on the character turns blue.
- The duration of the attached audio file appears on the timeline when you select the character.
- A microphone icon appears on the character's thumbnail in the timeline panel below the stage.
Note: If you do not see the Voice icon when selecting a character, that character family may not support lip-sync. Check the eligible character families listed at the top of this article.
