Audio Control lets you place voiceovers, soundtracks, and sound effects directly on the timeline in Powtoon Studio. This gives you precise control over when each audio file starts and ends, and lets you layer multiple audio files on the same slide.
Plan requirement: A Professional plan or higher is required to add audio directly to the timeline.
Mode requirement: You must be working in Create mode inside Powtoon Studio. If you are in a different mode, switch to Create before following the steps below.

Adding a voiceover to a single slide
To add a voiceover to a single slide, open the Audio tab in Powtoon Studio and follow these steps:
- Select the voiceover you want to use. You can record a new voiceover or choose one saved in the My Voiceover section of the Audio tab.
- Select This Slide. The full voiceover is added to the timeline. If the voiceover is longer than the current slide, the slide length extends automatically to fit it.
Once the voiceover appears on the timeline, you can adjust its timing, volume, and other settings. See Customizing audio on the timeline below.
Adding a soundtrack to a single slide
To add a soundtrack to a single slide, open the Audio tab in Powtoon Studio and follow these steps:
- Select the soundtrack you want to use.
- Select This Slide.
- If the soundtrack is longer than the slide, choose one of the following options:
- Extend Length — the slide length increases automatically to fit the full soundtrack.
- Trim Sound — the soundtrack is trimmed automatically to match the current slide length.
Customizing audio on the timeline
After adding any audio to the timeline, you can continue to adjust it using the following controls:
- Reposition — drag the audio clip along the timeline to change its start and end times.
- Swap — replace the current audio file with a different one.
- Volume — adjust the volume level for that specific audio file independently of other audio on the slide.
- Auto-reduce — enable the option to automatically lower the volume of the main soundtrack when another audio file (such as a voiceover) is playing.
Note: These controls apply individually to each audio file on the timeline. You can layer multiple audio files on the same slide and adjust each one separately.
