After you add objects to the stage in Powtoon Studio, you can align or distribute them relative to each other using the built-in Align / Distribute menu. This article explains how to access and use those controls.
Before you start
You need at least two objects placed on the stage to use the alignment and distribution options. Objects can include text boxes, images, shapes, and characters.
How to align or distribute objects
- On the stage, click the first object you want to align. Hold Shift and click each additional object to add it to your selection.
► You can also click and drag across the stage to select multiple objects at once. - With your objects selected, click the Align / Distribute icon in the toolbar above the stage. The Align / Distribute menu opens.
- Hover over each option in the menu to see a brief description of what it does.
- Click the alignment or distribution option you want to apply. The selected objects reposition on the stage immediately.
What the Align / Distribute options do
The Align / Distribute menu contains two groups of controls.
Align options snap all selected objects to a shared edge or center point. For example, aligning objects to the left moves every selected object so its left edge lines up with the leftmost object in the selection. Options typically include align left, align center (horizontal), align right, align top, align middle (vertical), and align bottom.
Distribute options spread selected objects evenly across the stage or within the selection boundary. For example, distributing horizontally places equal spacing between each object along the horizontal axis. Options typically include distribute horizontally and distribute vertically.
Hovering over each icon in the menu displays a label that describes its specific behavior.
What happens next
Your objects reposition on the stage as soon as you click an option. No additional confirmation is needed. You can undo any alignment action by pressing Ctrl + Z (Windows) or Cmd + Z (Mac).
Note: The exact set of alignment and distribution options visible in your menu may vary depending on how many objects are selected. Some distribution options require three or more objects to produce a meaningful result.
