Enter and exit effects control how objects appear on and disappear from a slide in Powtoon Studio. You can apply these effects to any character or prop, and optionally pair them with a hand animation or a sound for extra impact.
Before you start
Add the object you want to animate to your slide before following the steps below. The object must be placed on the stage before enter and exit effects can be applied.
Applying an enter or exit effect
- Open your Powtoon in Powtoon Studio and confirm you are working in Create mode.
- Select the object you want to animate on the stage.
► The object's current enter and exit effects appear on the timeline below the stage. For example, a character set to enter from the left and exit to the left will show two effect markers on its timeline row. - On the timeline, click the effect marker you want to change — either the enter effect (at the start of the object's timeline bar) or the exit effect (at the end).
► The steps below apply equally to enter and exit effects. - In the effects panel that opens, scroll through the available effects and hover over each one to preview it. Select the effect that best matches how you want the object to appear or disappear.
- Optional: Click Add Hand to add a hand animation — male or female — that moves the object onto or off the slide.
► Add Hand is only available for effects that support a hand animation. If the button is greyed out, the selected effect does not support this option. - Optional: Click Add Sound to attach a sound to the effect. Scroll through the available sounds and hover over each one to hear a preview before selecting.
What happens next
After you apply an effect, the timeline updates to show an icon representing the new effect on the object's timeline bar. This lets you see at a glance which enter and exit effects are active for each object.
Once you have added a hand or sound, the Add Hand and Add Sound buttons change to Change Hand and Change Sound, so you can swap them out at any time.
Notes
- Enter and exit effects apply per object, per slide. Changing an effect on one slide does not affect the same object on other slides.
- Add Hand is enabled only when the selected effect supports a hand animation. If the button is inactive, choose a different effect to check whether hand support is available.
- You can update an effect at any time by selecting the object, clicking its effect marker on the timeline, and choosing a new effect from the panel.
