When objects overlap on a slide, their stacking order controls which one appears in front. You can change that order at any time using the right-click context menu in Powtoon Studio — either by jumping an object directly to the front or back, or by nudging it one layer at a time.
Layering methods available
You have two ways to reorder overlapping objects on a slide:
- Bring to Front / Send to Back — moves the object directly to the top or bottom of the stacking order in one action.
- Bring Forward / Send Backward — moves the object up or down by one layer increment at a time.
Move an object directly to the front or back
To move an object directly to the front or back of the stacking order on a slide:
- Click the object on the stage to select it.
- Right-click the selected object to open the context menu.
- Click Bring to Front to move the object to the top of the stacking order, or click Send to Back to move it to the bottom.
The object immediately moves to the front or back of all other objects on the slide.
Move an object forward or backward one layer at a time
To shift an object's position in the stacking order one layer at a time:
- Click the object on the stage to select it.
- Right-click the selected object to open the context menu.
- Click Bring Forward to move the object one layer toward the front, or click Send Backward to move it one layer toward the back.
- Repeat until the object is in the position you need.
Each click moves the object exactly one layer in the chosen direction relative to the objects around it.
Note: All four layering options — Bring to Front, Send to Back, Bring Forward, and Send Backward — appear in the same right-click context menu. The options available may vary depending on the object's current position in the stacking order.
