If you have older Powtoons that were originally created in the Flash-based editor, you may be wondering whether you can convert them to the HTML5 editor (Powtoon Studio). This article explains the current status of that conversion process.
Conversion to HTML5 is no longer supported
As of 2022, Powtoon no longer actively supports the conversion process from the legacy Flash editor to the HTML5 editor. While the conversion option may still appear to be available in some cases, the Powtoon team cannot troubleshoot or resolve any issues that arise during or after the attempt.
In practical terms, this means:
- Attempting a conversion is done at your own risk.
- If the converted Powtoon does not display or behave correctly, the Powtoon support team is unable to investigate or fix the issue.
- There is no guaranteed path to recover content from a failed conversion.
What you can do instead
If you need to update or reuse content from an older Powtoon, the most reliable approach is to recreate it from scratch in Powtoon Studio. Powtoon Studio gives you access to the full range of current templates, characters, and assets, and any Powtoon you create there is fully supported.
To start a new Powtoon, go to your My Powtoons page and select Create new.

If you have questions about recreating your content or working in Powtoon Studio, our Customer Support Team is at your service 24/7.
Note: The conversion limitation applies to Powtoons originally built in the legacy Flash editor. Powtoons created in Powtoon Studio are not affected.
