Powtoon runs in your browser, and Linux users may experience performance issues without the correct browser plugin installed. Installing the recommended plugin gives you the best experience when creating and editing a Powtoon on Linux.
Before you start
Check that you are running a supported Ubuntu environment before installing the plugin. The plugin linked below is packaged for Ubuntu (Trusty) and may not apply to all Linux distributions.
Install the recommended plugin for Linux
To get the best performance on Linux, install the PepperFlash plugin for your browser.
- Go to the pepperflashplugin-nonfree package page on the Ubuntu package repository.
- Follow the installation instructions on that page to install the plugin for your system.
- Restart your browser after installation is complete.
- Open Powtoon and sign in to your account.
- Create or open a Powtoon to confirm the plugin is working correctly.
Note: The Ubuntu package repository is a third-party site. The information on that page may have changed since this article was written. If the link is unavailable, search your distribution's package manager for pepperflashplugin-nonfree.
What happens next
Once the plugin is installed and your browser is restarted, Powtoon should load and perform as expected on your Linux system. If you continue to experience performance issues after installing the plugin, contact our Customer Support Team — they are available 24/7.
