Powtoon Studio gives you four ways to change the color of text in a text box. You can pick a preset color, enter a hex (hexadecimal) code, build a custom color using sliders, or sample any color already on the stage. You can also apply color changes to individual characters within a text box using Rich Text.

- Using a hex color code
- Creating a custom color

Selecting a basic color
To change text color by choosing a preset color:
- Select the text box on the stage.
- Click Color in the toolbar above the text box. The color panel opens.
- Select one of the basic colors displayed in the panel.
The text color changes immediately to the color you selected.
Using a hex color code
To change text color by entering a specific hex color code:
- Select the text box on the stage.
- Click Color in the toolbar above the text box. The color panel opens.
- In the hex code field beneath the basic colors, enter the 6-character hex code for the color you want.
The text color changes to match the hex code you entered.
► If you plan to reuse this color, click + to save it to My Colors. The color will then be available in the My Colors section for future use.
Creating a custom color
To change text color by building a custom color using the color picker:
- Select the text box on the stage.
- Click Color in the toolbar above the text box. The color panel opens.
- Click the arrow next to the color field to open the color picker.
- Drag the sliders to dial in the exact color you want.
The text color updates as you adjust the sliders.
► If you plan to reuse this color, click + to save it to My Colors. The color will then be available in the My Colors section for future use.
Using the color sampler
The color sampler lets you pick any color already visible on the stage and apply it to your text. This is useful for matching text to an existing element in your Powtoon.
- Select the text box on the stage.
- Click Color in the toolbar above the text box. The color panel opens.
- Click the color sampler icon in the color panel. Your cursor changes to an eyedropper.
- Move the eyedropper over the stage to find the color you want. As you hover, the detected color is previewed in the color picker. For example, hovering over a yellow element on the stage will display that yellow in the picker.
- Click to confirm the color. The selected color is applied to the text in the text box.
Deleting a custom color
To remove a color you have saved to My Colors:
- Open the color panel and hover over the saved color you want to delete. An X appears on the color swatch.
- Click the X. The color is removed from My Colors.
Changing color with Rich Text
Rich Text lets you change the color of individual characters within a single text box, rather than applying a color to all the text at once.
- Double-click the text box to enter edit mode.
- Highlight the specific characters whose color you want to change.
- Use any of the color methods above — basic color, hex code, custom color, or color sampler — to apply a new color.
Only the highlighted characters change color. The rest of the text in the text box is unaffected.
