How to apply enter and exit effects to text in Powtoon Studio

Once you have added text to the slide, you can control how that text appears (enters) and disappears (exits) from the stage. You can also add a hand animation or a sound to reinforce the effect.

Applying an enter or exit effect to text

To apply an enter or exit effect to text in Powtoon Studio:

Open your Powtoon in Powtoon Studio and confirm you are working in Create mode.
Select the text element you want to work on.
► The current enter and exit effects for that text are displayed on the timeline.
On the timeline, click the effect you want to change — either the enter effect or the exit effect.
► The steps below apply equally to both enter and exit effects.
Select the effect that best matches how you want your text to appear or disappear.
► Scroll through the available effects and hover over each one to see a preview before selecting.
Optional: Click Add Hand to add a hand animation (male or female) to the selected effect. This creates the appearance of a human hand moving the text onto or off the stage.
► Add Hand is only available for effects that support a hand animation. If the option is greyed out, the selected effect does not support it.
Optional: Click Add Sound to attach a sound to the selected effect.
► Scroll through the available sounds and hover over each one to hear a preview before selecting.
► Add Sound is only available for effects that support sound. If the option is greyed out, the selected effect does not support it.

What happens after you apply an effect

After you apply an enter or exit effect to text, the timeline updates to show an icon representing the new effect. This confirms the change has been saved to that text element.

Once you have selected an effect and added a hand or sound, the buttons Add Hand and Add Sound change to Change Hand and Change Sound respectively. Use these to update your selections at any time.

Notes

Enter and exit effects are applied per text element. Selecting a different text element on the stage will show that element's own effects on the timeline.
The same effect-selection workflow applies to both enter and exit effects — click the relevant effect marker on the timeline to begin.
Add Hand and Add Sound availability depends on the effect selected. Not all effects support both options.
