The swap feature lets you replace any object on the stage with a different one from the Powtoon libraries. When you swap an object, the replacement keeps the same position on the timeline, along with the original object's timing, enter and exit effects, and animation.
How to swap an object
- Select the object on the stage that you want to replace.
- Click Swap in the toolbar that appears above the selected object.
- ► You can also right-click the object and select Swap from the context menu.
- The library panel opens automatically. The current object is highlighted with a blue border so you can see which item you are replacing.
- Browse the library and select the object you want to use instead.
- ► If you are working in Edit mode, you can only select a replacement from the same tab as the current object (for example, Characters, Props, Shapes, or Media).
- ► If you are working in Create mode, you can select a replacement from any tab in the library.
The new object replaces the original in exactly the same position on the timeline. Its timing, enter and exit effects, and animation are carried over automatically.
What the swap feature preserves
When you swap an object in Powtoon Studio, the replacement object inherits the following properties from the original:
- Position on the stage
- Timeline timing (start time and duration)
- Enter and exit effects
- Animation style
Properties specific to the new object — such as its appearance, color, and style — come from the library item you select.
Note: The swap feature is available for objects already placed on the stage. If you have not yet added an object, add one from the library first and then use Swap to replace it.
