Characters and many props in Powtoon are designed to animate by default. You can control how each object animates — or turn animation off entirely — using the Animation settings in Powtoon Studio.
Before you start
Open the Powtoon you want to edit and navigate to the slide containing the character or prop you want to adjust.
How to change animation settings for a character or prop
- Select the character or prop on the stage that you want to adjust.
- Click the Settings icon (the gear wheel) in the toolbar that appears above or around the selected object. The Settings menu opens.
- Click Animation. The available animation options appear, with the currently active option highlighted in blue.
- Select one of the following options:
- No Animation — removes all movement and displays the object in its default static pose for the duration of the slide.
- [Number] Times (the default setting) — plays the animation a set number of times, then holds the final pose.
- Play in Loop — plays the animation continuously for as long as the object is visible on the slide.
Your selection is applied immediately. The option you chose is highlighted in blue in the Animation menu.
Animation options explained
To change animation settings for a character or prop, you choose from three options in the Animation menu.
No Animation stops the object from moving at all. The character or prop appears in its default pose and stays still throughout the slide.
[Number] Times is the default setting. The animation plays a fixed number of times and then stops. The number of repetitions depends on the object and can vary between characters and props.
Play in Loop keeps the animation running on a continuous cycle for the entire time the object is on screen. This is useful for props like clocks, spinning icons, or any element where ongoing movement adds to the scene.
Note: Not all props support animation. If the Animation option does not appear in the Settings menu for a selected object, that object does not have an animation assigned to it.

All the characters and many of the props within the Poutoon library have been designed to play
with animation.
In the scene below, the character is expressing happiness and the hand of the wall clock
prop is moving.
You can define what type of animation will be used for characters and props that you have
added to your Poutoon.
First, select the object that you want to work on.
Then, click Settings to access the settings menu.
Select Animation.
You will then have three options.
No animation will remove the animation and display the object without any movement.
The number of times, which is the default setting, will play the animation a set number of times.
For this character, the animation will play five times and play in loop,
which will play the animation continuously during the time the object is on the slide.
