How to name or rename a Powtoon

When you create a new Powtoon, it receives a default name automatically. This article explains where that name comes from and how to change it in two places: inside Powtoon Studio and from the My Powtoons page.

How your Powtoon gets its default name

Your Powtoon's starting name depends on how you created it:

• If you started from a template, the Powtoon takes the name of that template.
• If you started from scratch, the Powtoon is named untitled-1 by default.

You can rename your Powtoon at any time using either of the methods below.

Rename a Powtoon inside Powtoon Studio

To rename a Powtoon while you are editing it in Powtoon Studio:

1. Open the Powtoon in Powtoon Studio.
2. Locate the Edit Powtoon title field at the top of the editor.
3. Select the existing text in that field and type the new name.

The name updates as soon as you finish typing. No additional save step is required.

Rename a Powtoon from the My Powtoons page

To rename a Powtoon without opening it in the editor:

1. Go to your My Powtoons page.
2. Locate the Powtoon you want to rename.
3. Click the three vertical dots (more options menu) on the Powtoon's thumbnail.
4. Click Rename.
5. Type the new name in the field that appears.
6. Click Rename to confirm.

The Powtoon's name updates immediately on your My Powtoons page.

Note: Renaming a Powtoon does not affect its content, sharing links, or export history.
