Why animations disappear in PowerPoint exports
PowerPoint does not support Powtoon animations. When you export your Powtoon to a PowerPoint (.pptx) file, every animated object on each slide — including character animations, entrance effects, and motion paths — is converted to a static image. The animation sequence is not carried over.
This is expected behavior. The exported .pptx file captures a snapshot of each slide rather than reproducing the animation timeline.
How the snapshot is taken
When you export to PowerPoint, Powtoon captures each slide as a still image taken 0.5 seconds before the end of that slide. The snapshot reflects the state of the slide at that moment — objects that have already animated into position will appear in their final position, but no motion or transition is included in the file.
For example, if a character walks across the stage during a slide, the exported PowerPoint slide will show the character at the position it occupied 0.5 seconds before the slide ended — not the full walking sequence.
What to expect in the exported file
After you export your Powtoon to PowerPoint and open the .pptx file:
- All slides appear as static images — no Powtoon animations play.
- Animated characters appear frozen at their end-of-slide position.
- Any text, shape, or object that animated in will appear as a static element.
- PowerPoint's own animation tools are not applied automatically — the slide content is embedded as a snapshot, not as editable PowerPoint objects.
Alternatives if you need animation
If preserving animation is important, consider these options instead of exporting to PowerPoint:
- Export your Powtoon as an MP4 file to retain all animations and transitions.
- Share your Powtoon using a Powtoon link so viewers see the full animated version.
- Embed the exported MP4 file into your PowerPoint presentation manually after export.
Note: The PowerPoint export format is designed for slide-based static content. If your Powtoon relies heavily on animation to communicate its message, the MP4 export will give your audience the full experience.
