How to dub a video into another language using AI
AI dubbing lets you translate the spoken audio in an uploaded video into another language automatically. This article explains how to dub a video inside Powtoon Studio using the Dub Video feature.
Plan requirement: AI dubbing is available on Pro+, Agency, and Business plans. If you do not see the Dub Video option in your video settings, check that your plan includes this feature.
Before you start
Before dubbing a video, make sure you have:
- A video file already uploaded to your Powtoon project and placed on the stage.
- Confirmed that the original audio is correct — dubbing is applied to the existing audio track, so review it first.
How to dub a video into another language
- Upload your video and place it on the stage. Open your Powtoon in Powtoon Studio. Upload your video file and drag it onto the stage so it is visible and playable.
- Review the original video. Play the video in its original language to confirm the content and audio are correct before you begin dubbing.
► If the audio contains errors, correct them before continuing — AI dubbing translates the existing audio as-is. - Select the video element on the stage. Click the video on the stage to select it. A selection outline will appear around the element, confirming it is active.
- Open the video settings panel. With the video selected, click the settings gear icon that appears in the toolbar or alongside the selected element. The video settings panel will open.
- Click Dub Video. Inside the video settings panel, click Dub Video. The AI dubbing dialog will open.
- Select your target language and start dubbing. In the AI dubbing dialog, choose the language you want to dub into from the list — up to 180 languages are available. For example, select Spanish. Then click Start Dubbing.
► Processing time will vary depending on the length of your video. - Preview the dubbed video. Once processing is complete, play the video back on the stage to confirm the dubbed audio sounds correct. Your video is now localized in the selected language.
What happens next
After dubbing is complete, the video on your stage plays back in the target language you selected. You can continue editing your Powtoon or Export it as an MP4 file. If the dubbing result is not what you expected, you can repeat the process and select a different language or re-upload a corrected source video.
Notes:
- AI dubbing translates the audio track of the uploaded video. It does not alter on-screen text or captions.
- Up to 180 target languages are available in the dubbing dialog.
- The quality of the dubbed output depends on the clarity and quality of the original audio.
- Plan eligibility for AI dubbing should be confirmed in your account settings if the Dub Video option is not visible.
