Powtoon Imagine's Text to Image feature lets you generate custom visuals from a written prompt and add them directly to your Powtoon — either as a scene background or as an object on the timeline. Each image is saved automatically to your My Media folder as soon as it is generated.

AI Credits usage
Each image generation costs 2 AI Credits. This applies whether you are adding the image as a background or as a timeline object. Regenerating an image costs an additional 2 AI Credits per attempt.
Generate an image and add it as a background
Use this path to replace the current scene background with an AI-generated image.
- Open your Powtoon in Powtoon Studio.
- Click the Background tab in the left panel.
- Click the Try text to image now banner. The Text to Image panel opens.
- Choose your preferred aspect ratio.
- Type your prompt in the prompt field.
- Click Generate image. Powtoon generates your image and saves it automatically to your My Media folder.
► If you are not satisfied with the result, click Regenerate to generate a new image using the same prompt, or update your prompt and then click Regenerate. Each regeneration costs 2 AI Credits. - Click Add to scene. The current scene background is replaced with your generated image.
Generate an image and add it to the timeline
Use this path to add an AI-generated image as an object on the timeline, rather than as a background.
- Open your Powtoon in Powtoon Studio.
- Click the Media tab in the left panel.
- Click the Try text to image now banner. The Text to Image panel opens.
- Choose your preferred aspect ratio.
- Type your prompt in the prompt field.
- Click Generate image. Powtoon generates your image and saves it automatically to your My Media folder.
► If you are not satisfied with the result, click Regenerate to generate a new image using the same prompt, or update your prompt and then click Regenerate. Each regeneration costs 2 AI Credits. - Click Add to scene. The image is added to the current scene as an object on the timeline.
Notes:
- Generated images are saved automatically to your My Media folder regardless of whether you add them to a scene.

Transform your text into custom visuals within seconds, with the AI text to image. In this tutorial, we are going to learn on how to generate images with this feature and apply them to your slide, or as a background. Inside the studio, click on the background tab on the right-hand side. Click on the try text to image now banner. Select the preferred aspect ratio. Add your prompt on the field provided. In this example, we are going to generate an image using the prompt a sunset view at the beach. Then click generate image. Once done, the image will be automatically saved to your My Media folder. If you don't like the generated image, you can try again by clicking regenerate or change the prompt, then click regenerate. Click add to scene to set the image as the slide background. The background will be replaced with your generated image. To generate an image to a slide, select the media tab on the right side of the studio. Click on the try text to image now banner. Select your preferred aspect ratio. Add your prompt on the field provided, and click generate image. Once done, the generated image will be automatically saved to your My Media folder. Same with backgrounds, you can try again by clicking regenerate or change the prompt, then click regenerate. Click add to scene to add the image to your pow-tune as an object on the timeline. The generated image will be added into the slide, where you can resize it and place it anywhere within the slide.
