How to use AI Text to Video (VEO 2) in Powtoon

The AI Text to Video feature, powered by Google VEO 2, lets you turn a written prompt into generated video footage. You can start a generation from your My Powtoons page or from inside Powtoon Studio. All videos you generate are saved in the My Video section of your Powtoon account.

Note: VEO 2 does not include audio in generated videos. If you need audio, see Text to Video (VEO 3) instead.

Using Text to Video from the My Powtoons page

You can generate a VEO 2 video directly from your My Powtoons page without opening a Powtoon first.

1. Click Create with AI on your My Powtoons page.
2. Click the AI Text to Video module.
3. Select VEO 2 as your model.
4. Type a description of the video you want to generate in the prompt field.
5. Select your preferred aspect ratio and video length.
   ► VEO 2 does not support audio. To generate video with audio, see Text to Video (VEO 3).
6. Click Generate Video. Your video will be ready in a few moments.
7. Click Play to preview the generated video.
8. If you are happy with the result, click Use in Studio to add it to a Powtoon.
   ► If you are not satisfied, you can regenerate using the same prompt or enter a new prompt and generate again.

Using Text to Video from Powtoon Studio — Media tab

When you generate a VEO 2 video from inside Powtoon Studio, you have the option to add a single reference image. That image is used as the first frame of the generated video.

1. Open a Powtoon in Powtoon Studio.
2. Click the Videos tab on the right side of the Studio.
3. Click the Generate Video thumbnail.
4. Select VEO 2 as your model.
5. If you want to guide the generation with a starting image, add a reference image. The image will act as the first frame of the video.
   ► This step is optional. You can generate without a reference image.
6. Type a description of the video you want to generate in the prompt field.
7. Select your preferred aspect ratio and video length.
   ► VEO 2 does not support audio. To generate video with audio, see Text to Video (VEO 3).
8. Click Generate Video. Your video will be ready in a few moments.
9. Click Play to preview the generated video.
10. If you are happy with the result, click Add to Scene to place the video on your current slide.
    ► If you are not satisfied, you can regenerate using the same prompt or enter a new prompt and generate again.

Using Text to Video from Powtoon Studio — Script panel

You can also trigger a VEO 2 generation directly from the Script panel on the left side of Powtoon Studio. This lets you generate video footage based on a slide description you have already written.

1. Open a Powtoon in Powtoon Studio.
2. Click the Script tab on the left side of the Studio.
3. Type your prompt in the Slide Description field, then click Generate Video. The Text to Video module will open.
4. Select your desired settings — model, aspect ratio, and video length.
5. Click Generate Video. The generated video will be added to your scene when complete.

AI Credits cost per generation

Generating a video with VEO 2 costs AI Credits (Powtoon's AI generation currency). The cost is 5 AI Credits per second of video generated.

The minimum video length is 5 seconds, which costs 25 AI Credits. The maximum video length is 8 seconds, which costs 40 AI Credits.

Note: AI Credits are consumed at the point of generation, including if you regenerate a video using the same prompt.
