Accessing the AI Video Assistant
To open the AI Video Assistant, follow these steps from your My Powtoons page:
- Click Create With AI on the left side of the screen.
- Click Generate a video.
- Click Let's make a video together. The brief form opens.
Step 1: The Brief
The Brief is where you give the AI Video Assistant the context it needs to generate your Powtoon. You will answer a mix of multiple-choice and free-form questions covering your goal, topic, audience, and duration.
The brief includes the following fields:
- Goal — choose what the Powtoon is for (for example, market a product or service).
- Topic — describe what the Powtoon is about in up to 300 characters.
- Audience — describe your target audience in up to 100 characters.
- Duration — select the intended length (for example, 0.5 minutes).
Once you have completed all fields, click Generate video ideas for me! The assistant will process your brief and return a set of video concept suggestions.
Step 2: Video Ideas
After processing your brief, the AI Video Assistant presents several Powtoon concept suggestions for you to choose from.
- Select the concept that best fits your goal, then click Add final details to continue.
- ► If none of the suggestions work, click Regenerate to get a new set of ideas.
- ► If you want to change your original brief, click Back.
Step 3: Final Touches
The Final Touches step lets you add specific details that shape the content and tone of your generated Powtoon. These fields are optional but improve the quality of the output.
You can provide:
- Main points — specific facts or messages to include, up to 300 characters.
- Brand or company name — the name you are promoting, up to 100 characters.
- Call to action — what you want viewers to do next, up to 100 characters.
- Background music style — choose a mood that fits your Powtoon (for example, playful).
When you are satisfied with your entries, click Generate video.
Step 4: Generate Video
After you click Generate video, the AI Video Assistant compiles your brief and final details and builds your Powtoon. This process runs automatically — no further input is needed while it works.
When generation is complete, you can view, share, and continue editing the Powtoon in Powtoon Studio to make any changes you need.
Troubleshooting
If something goes wrong during or after generation, the steps below cover the most common issues.
Error message after clicking Generate video
If you see an error message after clicking Generate video, a Start over button will appear on the same screen. Click Start over to retry the generation. You do not need to re-enter your brief from the beginning.
The generated Powtoon does not match what you expected
The quality of the output depends on the clarity of your brief and free-form text entries. If the result does not match your intent, go back and rephrase your topic, audience, or main points using more specific language.
► For guidance on writing effective prompts, see Improving your Prompts.
If the issue persists after retrying, our Customer Support Team is at your service 24/7.
