AI Scriptwriter is part of Powtoon Imagine's AI tools. It generates a ready-to-use script for your Powtoon, covering spoken narration, on-screen text suggestions, and visual guidance for each slide. Once generated, you can transfer the script directly into Powtoon Studio and build your Powtoon around it.

What is in a script
Each script AI Scriptwriter generates contains three sections. Understanding what each section does helps you use the output effectively in Powtoon Studio.
- Voice-Over: The suggested spoken narration for each slide. This is the core of your message and drives the overall story.
- On-Screen Text: Optional text suggestions that visually reinforce key points. Not every slide will include on-screen text — these are suggestions only, not requirements.
- Slide Description: Detailed guidance on how each slide should look, including font size, element placement, and suggestions for images, graphics, and other visual content. Use this section as a reference when building out each slide in Powtoon Studio.
How to generate your script
- From your My Powtoons page, click Create with AI.
- Click Let's write.
- Select the type of script you want from the drop-down menu.
- Enter a description of what your Powtoon should be about.
► For better results, see the article Improving your Prompts for guidance on writing effective prompts. - Select a tone of voice from the drop-down menu.
- Click Generate Script. The script will begin generating.
- Once the script is complete, choose one of the following options:
- Regenerate Script — Adjust your prompts and generate a new script if you want different results.
- Use in Studio — Transfer the script into a new blank Powtoon in Powtoon Studio.
Working with your script in Powtoon Studio
When you select Use in Studio, a new blank Powtoon opens in Powtoon Studio with your script loaded. The script replaces the standard slide thumbnail panel on the left side of the screen.
To switch between the script view and the slide thumbnail view, click the Script button in the left panel.
Voice-Over section
The Voice-Over section shows the suggested spoken narration for each slide. From this section you can:
- Click Text to Speech to generate an AI voice-over from the script text.
- Click Copy to copy the voice-over text and use it elsewhere.
On-Screen Text section
The On-Screen Text section provides suggested text to display on each slide. Use these suggestions to visually reinforce your message. Common on-screen text types include titles and supporting text. These are suggestions — you can edit or remove them as needed.
Slide Description section
The Slide Description section gives you detailed instructions for building each slide. This includes guidance on font size, element placement, and suggestions for images, videos, and graphics. Use this section as a visual brief when designing each slide in Powtoon Studio.
Note: The script is loaded into a new blank Powtoon. Your existing Powtoons are not affected when you select Use in Studio.

In the workspace, click Generate Script. Choose the type of script you want from the drop-down menu. And put what you want the story to be about. This is where you'll be putting the topic of your video. Choose the tone of voice for the text from the drop-down menu below. Click Generate Script. The AI would then begin to start writing a script for you. Once the script is complete, you will have two options. Select Regenerate Script. If you don't like the script provided and you can make changes to the prompts that generated your script and get a new one. Or select Use in Studio to transfer your script into a poutune. After you have selected Use in Studio, a new blank poutune is created with your script. On the left side of the poutune studio, you'll notice that you can quickly switch between your script and the slide panel. In the voiceover section, you can click on the Text to Speech button to generate a voiceover using Text to Speech. Other on-screen text are the suggested on-screen text to visually enhance your message. Different types of on-screen text are titles and additional text. You can just quickly copy the text, add a text box to the slide, and paste it. Under Slide Description, you'll be provided with detailed instructions on how each slide should look. Using Font Size, Location, as well as Suggestions for Images, Videos, and Graphics. Notice that there are some highlighted words. If you click on one of them, it will give you object suggestions that can be found inside the library, which are all related to the keyword that you just selected. In this example, we just selected Cars. So it gave us objects found in the library related to Cars. We may go ahead and add these suggested objects to the slide.
