Powtoon Studio lets you upload your own images directly onto any slide. You can upload from your computer or import from a connected social media channel. Uploaded images are also saved to My Images, your personal image library, so you can reuse them in future Powtoons.
In addition to your own uploads, you can browse ready-made visuals in the Powtoon libraries.
Before you start
You must be working in Create mode inside Powtoon Studio to upload an image. If you are in any other mode, switch to Create mode before following the steps below.
Accepted image formats and file size limits
Powtoon accepts the following image formats when uploading to a slide:
- JPG and JPEG — maximum file size 5 MB
- PNG — maximum file size 5 MB
- GIF — maximum file size 5 MB
- SVG — maximum file size 100 KB
Files that exceed these limits will not upload successfully. Resize or compress the file before trying again.
How to upload an image to a slide
- Open your Powtoon in Powtoon Studio and navigate to the slide where you want to add the image.
- Click the Upload Media button in the left-hand panel.
- Select Image from the menu that appears.
- Choose how you want to add your image:
- ► From your computer: Click Upload and select the image file from your device.
- ► From a social media channel: Select the relevant connected account and choose the image you want to import.
- The image is placed on the slide and saved automatically to My Images, your personal image library, for future use.
Note: You must be in Create mode for the Upload Media button to be available. If you do not see it, check that you have switched to Create mode at the top of Powtoon Studio.

Select the slide to which you want to upload an image.
Click the Upload Media button at the upper right-hand side.
Select the image option.
Click Upload to upload an image from your computer.
The following file types can be uploaded.
JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, and SVG.
The maximum SVG file size is 100 kilobytes.
For all other types, 5 megabytes is the maximum.
Select one of the social media icons to upload your image from the relevant channel,
Facebook, Instagram, and Google Drive.
The uploaded image is added to both the slide and to my media, which is your personal
media library ready for future use.
