How to record your webcam only with Powtoon Capture

Powtoon Capture (the screen and camera recording tool) lets you record your webcam on its own, without capturing your screen. This article walks you through the full process — from launching the extension to sharing your finished recording.

Before you start

Make sure both of the following are in place before you begin:

• You have downloaded and installed the Powtoon Capture extension.
• Your camera and microphone are enabled in Chrome.

How to record your webcam only

To record your webcam only using Powtoon Capture, follow these steps:

1. Launch the Powtoon Capture extension from the Chrome toolbar. The Capture panel opens.
2. In the Capture panel, select Cam Only.
3. Check that your microphone toggle is turned on.
4. Click Record. A 5-second countdown begins.
5. When the countdown ends, begin recording yourself.
   ► If you need to cancel before you start, click the cancel button to stop the countdown and begin again.
6. When you are done, click the Stop button to end the recording.

Powtoon Capture processes your recording and then displays it on the Powtoon player page.

What you can do after recording

Once your webcam-only recording is processed and displayed on the player page, you can do any of the following:

• Share the recording to your social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn) using the share icons on the right side of the page.
• Send the player page link by email using the email icon.
• Copy the player page URL using the copy link icon.
• Open and edit your Powtoon in Powtoon Studio.
• Export your Powtoon as an MP4 file.

Your Powtoon Capture is also saved automatically in your Workspace.

Note: A Powtoon Capture longer than 3 minutes cannot be edited in Powtoon Studio.
