How to record your screen and webcam with Powtoon Capture

Powtoon Capture lets you record your screen, your webcam, or both at the same time. This article covers the Screen & Cam recording mode, which captures your screen alongside a live camera window showing your face.

Before you start

• Make sure you have downloaded and installed the Powtoon Capture extension.
• Make sure your camera and microphone are enabled in Chrome.

How to record your screen and webcam

1. Open the Chrome toolbar and launch the Powtoon Capture extension.
2. In the Capture panel, select Screen & Cam.
3. Check that your microphone is toggled on.
4. Click Design and select the camera window shape you want. The camera window is the frame that displays your face during the recording.
5. Click Video and select the resolution you want for your recording.
   ► Full HD (1080p) is available to paid subscribers only.
6. Drag the camera window to the position you want on screen, then set its size — small, medium, or large.
   ► You can reposition the camera window while the recording is in progress.
7. Click Record.
8. Select what you want to record: your entire screen, a currently running application, or a specific Chrome tab.
9. Click Share.
10. Wait for the five-second countdown, then begin speaking and recording your screen.
    ► To cancel the recording before it finishes, click the cancel button in the control menu and start again.
11. When you are done, click Stop sharing in the browser.
    ► You can also click the stop button in the control menu to end the recording.

What happens after you stop recording

After you stop the recording, Powtoon Capture processes the video and displays it on the Powtoon player page. From there you can:

• Share the recording to your social media channels — Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn — using the icons on the right side of the page.
• Send the player page link by email using the email icon.
• Copy the player page URL using the copy link icon.
• Open your Powtoon in Powtoon Studio to edit it.
• Export your Powtoon.

Your Powtoon Capture is also saved automatically in your Workspace.

Note: A Powtoon Capture longer than three minutes cannot be edited in Powtoon Studio.
