Powtoon does not have a dedicated feature for displaying a scrolling web page. However, you can simulate a scrolling effect by combining a full-length screenshot with the A to B animation. This article walks you through the complete setup.
Before you start
To simulate a web page scrolling effect, you need a screenshot that captures the entire scrollable area of the web page — not just the portion visible on screen. A standard screenshot of only the visible area will not produce a convincing scroll. Use a full-page screenshot tool or browser extension to capture the complete page length before continuing.
Setting up the scrolling effect
- In the slide panel on the left, click the thumbnail of the slide you want to work on.
- On the right toolbar, click Media.
- Click anywhere in the My Media library to open it.
- Click Add media and upload the full-length screenshot you captured.
- Enlarge the image on the stage, then drag it so that its top edge aligns with the top of the slide. Most of the image will extend below the visible slide area and be out of view — this is expected.
- Click the Settings gear icon on the image to open its animation options.
- In the pop-up menu, click A to B. Powtoon adds a duplicate of the image on top of the original.
- Drag the duplicate image so that it completely covers the original, then position it so that its bottom edge aligns with the bottom of the slide. The duplicate represents the end position of the scroll.
- Click Play slide to preview the scrolling effect.
What happens next
When you play the slide, Powtoon animates the image from its starting position (Camera 1, top of the page) to its end position (Camera 2, bottom of the page), creating the appearance of a web page scrolling upward.
By default, the scrolling animation runs for 1.5 seconds. To change the duration, see Changing animation duration for more information.
Cancelling the scrolling effect
To remove the scrolling effect from an image, select the image on the stage, click the Settings gear, and then click Cancel 'A to B'. The duplicate image and its animation will be removed.
Key steps at a glance
To create a web page scrolling effect in Powtoon: capture a full-length screenshot of the web page, upload it to My Media, place it on the slide with its top edge at the top of the stage, apply the A to B animation from the Settings gear, position the duplicate image with its bottom edge at the bottom of the stage, and preview using Play slide. The default scroll duration is 1.5 seconds and can be adjusted separately.
Note: The scrolling effect depends entirely on the image extending beyond the visible slide area. If your screenshot only captures the visible portion of the web page, the animation will not produce a realistic scroll.
