If you have set an image as the background for a slide in Powtoon Studio, you can adjust it at any time using the Background settings menu. This article covers each editing option available for image backgrounds.
Opening Background settings
- In the upper-left corner of the slide canvas (the stage), click Background settings. The Background settings menu opens on the left side of the screen.
- Choose any of the options described below.
Background editing options
Swap
Click Swap to replace the current background image with a different image or video. The Swap option opens the media picker so you can select a new background asset.
► See Swapping a background for full instructions on replacing a background.
Flip
Click Flip to mirror the background image horizontally. The image is flipped immediately on the stage so you can see the result in context.
Blur
Click Blur to apply a blur effect to the background image. Use the percentage slider that appears to control the intensity of the blur — drag right to increase blur, drag left to reduce it.
Note: The Blur effect applies only to the background image. Objects and characters placed on the slide are not affected.
Color
Click Color to replace the background image with a solid color. A color picker appears so you can select the color you want to apply. Selecting a color replaces the image background on that slide.
Opacity
Click Opacity to control how transparent the background image appears. Use the percentage slider to set the opacity level — 100% is fully opaque and 0% is fully transparent.
► See Opacity for more information on how opacity works in Powtoon Studio.
What happens after you edit the background
Changes you make in the Background settings menu apply immediately to the current slide. Each slide in your Powtoon can have its own background settings, so edits on one slide do not affect other slides.
