This article applies only to subscription plans that include a fixed number of premium exports. If your plan has unlimited exports, Revision Mode does not affect your export balance.
When you export a Powtoon using a premium export, that Powtoon becomes locked. You can still make minor edits to it using Revision Mode, and republishing from Revision Mode does not count against your premium export balance.
If you need to make substantial changes, you must duplicate the Powtoon, edit the duplicate, and then export it. That export will count as a premium export.
What you can edit in Revision Mode
Revision Mode supports the following types of edits:
- Edit text
- Reposition objects on the stage
- Change the timing of objects on the timeline
- Add or remove enter and exit effects
- Swap music
- Change the aspect ratio
Any other structural changes require you to duplicate the Powtoon and work from the copy instead.
How to open and edit a Powtoon in Revision Mode
Revision Mode is only available for a Powtoon that has already been exported at least once. If the Powtoon has not been exported, it will not open in Revision Mode.
- Go to your My Powtoons page and locate the Powtoon you want to edit.
- Click the three vertical dots (more options menu) on the Powtoon thumbnail.
- Click Edit. The Powtoon opens in Powtoon Studio in Revision Mode.
- Make your edits. You can edit text, reposition objects, adjust timing, change effects, swap music, or change the aspect ratio.
► Only the edit types listed above are available in Revision Mode. For any other changes, duplicate the Powtoon first. - When you have finished editing, click Publish Revision. A preview of your Powtoon will play automatically.
- Click Publish Revision again to confirm.
- Select the format you want to publish to and follow the on-screen instructions. The revised Powtoon is published without using a premium export credit.
Note: You can publish a revised Powtoon an unlimited number of times, in any format your plan supports, without affecting your premium export balance.
When you need to make larger changes
If the edits you need go beyond what Revision Mode allows, duplicate the Powtoon, make your changes to the duplicate, and then export it. Exporting the duplicate will count as a new premium export and will reduce your export balance by one.
