How to create a Powtoon from a template

Templates give you a ready-made starting point so you can build a polished Powtoon without starting from a blank canvas. This article explains how to find a template, preview it, and open it for editing in Powtoon Studio.

Before you start

You need an active Powtoon account to access the template gallery. Log in at powtoon.com before following the steps below.

How to create a Powtoon from a template

To create a Powtoon from a template, follow these steps from your Workspace.

1. Log in to your Powtoon account. Your Workspace opens by default.
2. In the left side panel, click Templates. The template gallery opens and displays all available templates.
3. Browse the gallery, or use the goal filters at the top of the gallery to narrow the results to templates that match your purpose.
4. When you find a template you want to use, click the Preview button on its thumbnail. A preview of the template opens so you can review its content and style before committing.
   ► If the template does not suit your needs, close the preview and continue browsing.
5. If the template is the right fit, click Edit In Studio. Powtoon Studio opens with the template loaded and ready for you to edit.

What happens next

Once Powtoon Studio opens, the template's scenes, text, and assets are available on the stage. You can replace placeholder content, adjust timing, swap characters, and awesomize the Powtoon to match your message. Your changes are saved automatically to your Workspace as you work.

UI notes

• The Templates option appears in the left side panel of your Workspace.
• Goal filters appear at the top of the template gallery and let you sort by use case (for example, marketing, education, or internal communications).
• The Preview button appears when you hover over a template thumbnail.
• The Edit In Studio button appears inside the preview panel.

Note: The template gallery and available filters may vary depending on your subscription plan. If a template is not available on your current plan, an upgrade prompt will appear when you attempt to edit it.
