Your Powtoon's privacy setting controls whether it can be found in search engines. Privacy settings are configured during the Export flow, and the options available to you depend on your subscription plan.
Privacy settings by plan
Your default privacy setting is determined by your subscription:
- Free plan: Your privacy setting is set to Public by default and cannot be changed. A public Powtoon is indexed and searchable in search engines.
- Paid subscription plan (Lite, Professional, Advanced, Pro+, Agency, or Business): Your privacy setting is set to Unlisted by default. An unlisted Powtoon is not indexed and cannot be found in search engines.
To change your privacy setting, open your Powtoon in Powtoon Studio and go through the Export flow. Select Unlisted (or Public) from the privacy options before completing the export.
Changing a public Powtoon to Unlisted after upgrading
If you upgraded from a free plan to a paid subscription, any Powtoons you exported while on the free plan remain public and searchable. You cannot edit the privacy setting of an already-exported public Powtoon directly. To make that content unlisted, follow these steps:
- Duplicate the Powtoon on your My Powtoons page.
- Delete the original Powtoon that is currently searchable in search engines.
- Export the duplicated Powtoon and select Unlisted as the privacy setting.
The newly exported Powtoon will be unlisted and will not appear in search engine results.
Note: Deleting the original Powtoon removes it from Powtoon but may not immediately remove it from search engine caches. Search engines update their indexes on their own schedule.
