In addition to the videos included in the Powtoon libraries, you can upload your own video directly from your computer or a connected social media channel. Once uploaded, the video is saved to My Videos — your personal video library — and is ready to reuse in any Powtoon.
Note: You must be working in Create mode inside Powtoon Studio to upload a video. If you are in a different mode, switch to Create mode before following the steps below.
Uploading your video
To upload a video to My Videos in Powtoon Studio:
- Click Upload Media in the Powtoon Studio toolbar.
- Select Video from the media type options.
- Choose how you want to upload the video:
- ► Click Upload to select a video file from your computer.
- ► Click one of the social media icons to import a video from a connected channel: Facebook, Instagram, Dropbox, Google Drive, or Google Photos.
Notes:
- The file must be in MP4 format. Other file types are not supported.
- If the video is longer than 3 minutes, you will need to trim it before the upload completes.
Trimming your video
After you select your video, a trimming screen appears. Trimming lets you select a specific portion of the video to use. If you want to use the full video without trimming, skip to step 3 and click Apply.
To trim your video:
- Drag the handles on the video timeline to your desired start and end positions.
- Click the preview button to check that the selected portion fits your needs.
- Click Apply to complete the upload process.
Note: If the video you are uploading is longer than the current slide duration, an additional prompt will appear. You must choose one of the following options:
- Extend Length — extends the slide duration to match the full length of the video.
- Trim Video — trims the video automatically to fit the existing slide duration.
What happens after upload
Once the upload is complete, the video is placed on your slide and is also saved to My Videos, your personal video library. You can access it there at any time to reuse it in other Powtoons without uploading again.
Adjusting the volume of your video
You can adjust the volume of any video that has been added to the slide timeline. Videos used as a background can only be muted — full volume control is not available for background video.
To adjust the volume of a timeline video:
- Select the video on the timeline, then click the Volume button.
- Drag the volume slider to your preferred level. You can also enable the option to automatically reduce the volume of the main soundtrack when the video plays, so the two audio tracks do not compete.
