After logging in, you land on your Workspace page. This is where you create every new Powtoon. There are two ways to get started: use a ready-made template, or start from a blank canvas.
In this article:
Use a ready-made template
A ready-made template gives you a pre-built Powtoon that you can adapt to your needs. This is the fastest way to create a finished Powtoon, because the scenes, characters, and timing are already in place — you only need to update the content.
To create a Powtoon from a template:
- Open your Workspace page.
- Browse the template library and select the template you want to use.
- Click the template to open it in Powtoon Studio. The Powtoon opens ready for editing.
Note: Templates open directly in edit mode. All Powtoon tabs — scenes, backgrounds, text, characters, and more — are available once the Powtoon is open. See Powtoon tabs for more information.
Start from a blank Powtoon
Starting from a blank Powtoon gives you a fully empty canvas in Powtoon Studio. You build the Powtoon from scratch by adding your own scenes, backgrounds, text, characters, and other elements. The timeline at the bottom of the stage lets you control the timing of every object on each slide.
To create a blank Powtoon:
- Open your Workspace page.
- Click Blank. An aspect ratio selection screen appears.
- Select your preferred aspect ratio.
- ► You can change the aspect ratio at any time from inside Powtoon Studio.
- Click to confirm. Powtoon Studio opens with an empty canvas, and you can start building your Powtoon.
Note: In a blank Powtoon, all Powtoon tabs are available from the start — including scenes, backgrounds, text, characters, and libraries. Use the timeline at the bottom of the stage to set the timing for each object. See Powtoon tabs for a full overview of what each tab contains.
